'I wish I didn't buy that' #1

Disappointing products/worst product posts and videos are a favourite of mine. Yes, they do have a tendency to sound a little whingy, and a bit negative but I think they can be so helpful- or at least let me consider asking for a sample before spending my hard earned cash. So today we see a post, that I'm hoping won't be too much of a regular feature on 'Subject Beauty' as it makes me feel a little sad seeing the money wasted-

Clinique 'CC' Cream- £28

I wear the shade deep, medium deep is too light, deep is too dark. Bullied purchase, fraid so. You know when your under those bright lights, and the sales assistants are so convincing it's hard to not be bullied into a purchase. This is pretty full coverage and boy does it feel it. This feels heavy and greasy on skin, I also find this transfers to clothes and just about anything that goes within a cm of my face. This made my skin appear almost plastic in finish, and very dull. If you have dry skin this may work I guess, but I'd definitely make sure to request a sample first before taking the plunge.

Laura Mercier Primer -£33

Now, from my understanding a primer is meant to have a purpose. Whether that be to hydrate the skin, add luminosity, control oil, mattify, pro long foundation wear-something…anything. This foundation primer does zilch, nothing. Nothing to say, absolutely nothing. When I use this, and when I don't use this I notice no difference. Foundation applies nicely, but this doesn't add radiance, it doesn't prolong my foundation, or control oil or shine it simply does nothing. Sadly for £33 I'd like to see this make some sort of difference to the way my foundation looks or applies…

Urban Decay De-Slick

Wanting to try the Urban Decay setting sprays, my advice purchase the travel size. I was extremely disappointed in this product after reading rave reviews. This didn't help my make up stay, keep oiliness at bay or mattify all claims the product makes. Essentially this was as good as bottled water at making my make up stay through summer

So there we have it a few, products from my make up bag that are being donated to friends. What products are you disappointed in?

I was really disappointed in the De-Slick spray, as well, but had better luck with the All Nighter spray living up to the claims it made. Thanks for the heads-up on your other disappointments!

I too like posts like this, negative reviews are just as important as positive reviews when you're pondering a new purchase.
To be honest I've never found a primer that makes a huge difference, I rarely wear primer. The only time I wear it is on my eyes if I'm going to a 'fancy do' and want to make sure my eyeshadow won't run away.

My most disappointing purchase was L'Oreal Paris Nude Magique CC Cream Anti-Redness, I found it did absolutely nothing other than irritate my skin and the shade was awful and in no way matched my skin tone.

I didn't like the De-Slick either. I tried it under my makeup before priming and it was okay, but definitely not worth what you pay for it. The E.L.F. Makeup Mist and Set is $3 and it worked better. I was going to try the Clinique CC cream though, so thanks for the info!

Hi Erin, thank you for the comment :). I'm so glad I'm not the only one who was left disappointed as I know that this really works for some people, perhaps the all nighter spray may be worth a try ill have to report back :) x

Hey Rosie, awww thanks for comment, I did feel a bit unsure wether to post this or not as I know just because something may not work for me might work fantastically for someone else but I know from my own experience these style posts are useful, if you share a similar skin type or concern! I totally agree with you completely on the primer front! Majority just seem like an unnecessary step, although like you say eye primer defo is an essential for me. Oh gosh I broke out from that too!! I had the peachy coloured one for anti dullness it was so chalky and meh I thought they were meant to adapt to your skin tone but yeah that kinda didn't happen xx

Thanks for comment Katie :). Glad I'm not the only one as this seems to work for a lot of people judging from the reviews, ooh I haven't heard of that one I wonder if its available in the UK that seems a total bargain! No problem, I'd defo push for a sample with the Clinique CC cream :) xx thanks for stopping by

Good info to know! Wanted to try the CC cream-might skip now! Got the setting spray as a sample-definitely don't think it's necessary!

Most of my products in this category are foundations or BB creams that just don't match my skin tone! But I think it's OK to post negative reviews as long as you explain why you didn't like something... helps the rest of us figure out whether or not something is worth trying. ;)

Thanks for comment :) I'd defo recommend asking for a sample first I was so disappointed with the finish, texture consistency just everything was a bit meh! Aww defo not I'm starting to think most products like this are a bit of an unnecessary I'm yet to try one that doesn't have the same affects as what bottled water does! (Love your blog jus followed on bloglovin) :D x

Thanks for comment :), I'm defo with you there I have so many that are too orangey or oxidse it's so sad seeing them go to waste sometimes there's just some products that no matter what you do you can't work with! Aww thanks, I was a little dubious, but I love these type of posts myself and I know in the past they do really help -I'm glad it didn't sound too whingy haha xx

I actually love Laura Mercier primer and swear by it. It was my favourtie primer in 2013. :) But make up and skincare are very individual. :)

I have wanted to the the CC Cream, but I was always told it was medium coverage, not high, and I totally know the feeling of the bullied purchases! Have you tried adding a primer or mixing medium to it to make it lighter?

Thanks for the comment chick, this works for so many people I know! I think my skin just likes to be awkward lol, they sure are and it's all dependant on your skin type or concerns x

Thanks for comment, I really would recommend a sample of this, I've tried a primer before, using this a primer, mixing with moisturiser and mixing with foundation and well all failed, mixed with foundation I still really hated the finish, it made me loathe my favourite foundations haha so it's now gathering dust :(. Xx

It's so disappointing when products don't live up to their expectations isn't it! I recently got the MAC Studio Fix foundation and hate it, all I keep doing is thinking about the wasted money! You have a lovely blog, now following :) x
