2014 - My Top Five Most Read Posts

I often find myself focusing on the negatives when it comes to my blog, as a positive way to officially wrap up 2014 I thought I'd share with you 5 posts that received the highest page views in 2014. I love reading similar roundup posts on other blog. In terms of growth I think it's always good to look back and see what went well as more often than not the posts that I assume won't do well are actually some of my most read. Here are my top five posts that gathered the highest page views throughout 2014 (and still continue to receive clicks now!) *Heads up if you click the pictures they actually link to the posts.*

So kicking off at number 5 (ironically) it's my 5 Skincare Tips. This post saw me going right back to basics with some simple tips for keeping your skin clear and happy.

In at 4 was my second instalment of 'I Wish I Didn't Buy That' a series that shows me sharing the products that didn't float my boat. The fact that this made it into the top 5 shows that people do find the not so glowing reviews somewhat helpful, it's certainly encouraging for me as I do often question the value of these sorts of posts.

Coming in at number 3 was my 'Get Your Feet Summer Ready' post. Not the sexiest of topics but my post included some great product recommendations (that do all the hard work for you!) It's never too soon to start prepping…in fact I'm already dreaming of sandal weather, but with this ice/snow that we currently have it's a long way off!

Surprisingly at number 2 was my Northern Blogger Meet Up post. Considering I don't necessarily write up that many 'lifestyle' posts on my blog it surprises me on how many page views this post has had. 2014 saw me attending my very first blogger meet up, I had such a wonderful time and was actually way less nervous than I thought I would be. I'm hoping to put myself out there a little more in 2015 and say yes to more networking opportunities so hopefully there should be some more lifestyle posts over on these parts.

Drum roll please… Coming in at the top spot was my NARS Sheer Glow Review. To this day this post still clocks in a lot of page views, and is perhaps my most viewed post ever on my blog. It seems like this cult foundation is still a firm favourite and still a highly searched product on Google. NARS Sheer Glow featured in my 2014 yearly favourites, if you'd like to read a full review be sure to click the link.

If you're a blogger what was your most read post of 2014? Also I'd love to know what your favourite types of posts are to read on blogs.

It's Love - August

August is done and dusted so what better time to show you all the products I've loved throughout the month-

Late to the party (as always) but I recently picked up the original Chloe fragrance. I once spritzed this and wasn't sold on the scent I'm not sure why, perhaps as I've matured my fragrance preferences have changed? Either way I absolutely love this it's one of those fragrances that you still catch a whiff of by the end of the day. I won't even attempt to describe the smell of this as I'm absolutely pants at describing smells. But yes a lovely fresh scent that will see me well as an all year round perfume.

This foundation, I can't get enough. The Smashbox Liquid Halo foundation has basically been the only base I've reached for throughout August and I can't see this changing anytime soon. On my combination skin this works beautifully at controlling oil without looking too cakey or matte. The colour doesn't transfer, and the shade matches me perfectly. The formula is super long lasting, for me this basically ticks all the boxes….perfect skin in a bottle. If you'd like to read more see my full review here.

With the recent hot weather we've been experiencing here in the UK my skin started to look a little spotty/congested so I reintroduced the Clinique Clearing Gel to my routine. I don't know where I'd be without this, it works really well for me. It gets rid of spots quickly without over drying my skin, if I catch under the skin spots early enough it prevents them from coming to the surface . I reviewed this a while ago if you'd like to read more.

Despite the recent hot weather my body's been so dry. I have this awful thing where my skin gets a tad bit peely post holiday (not sure what all that's about!) A few years ago I really enjoyed using body oils, not wanting to spend a fortune I picked up the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Oil. As an overnight treatment (I tend to apply this 20-30 minutes before bed) this works wonders for my skin everything is just extra smooth. My skin no longer looks dry or peely it just looks in better condition since using this. Oddly enough stretch marks/lumps n bumps seem to look smoother and my skin looks more even this could be coincidence as I've recently upped my exercise but I do feel as though this oil has contributed.

If you read my 'Summer Bucket List' post you'll have seen I set myself a summer target to read ten books (I'm currently on three…oops!) Through August I read a couple of John Green books and I finally read the much talked about The Fault In Our Stars. I read this book in 2 days. Yes, 2 days. I was hooked I'll be honest not my usual style of book but something about John Green's writing style is very endearing and relatable. I really enjoy coming of age style novels and I loved how this one was a little bit different. This was really sad in parts but overall I really enjoyed the book a different take on a cancer patients story I found it really inspiring! (Hats off to you lovely bloggers out there who write book reviews it's bloody hard!)

What have you loved throughout August I'd love to know.

It's Love -July

July has passed (say what) so it only seemed right to show you the products/other items I've loved throughout the month-

Over recent months I've found myself really getting on board with the whole 'midi ring' trend. I initially dismissed them as I thought they'd emphasise my chubby fingers, but after trying a few in Topshop I actually think they make my fingers look dainty, feminine and really flatter a good mani (ignore my terrible one in the picture below!) If anyone knows of any other shops/boutiques where I can purchase different style midi rings I would welcome suggestions.

This Clinique blush has pretty much been my go to blush for everyday wear. This was actually my mums but somehow made it's way to my makeup bag (cheers mum.) The shade is 'Smoldering Plum' the shade and formula are really spot on, this has a slight shimmer running through it but I quite like this as it almost adds a highlighted effect to cheekbones as well as adding a natural flush on my darker skin tone. The blush is super pigmented but you can be light handed for a sheer finish. I find this to be a perfect neutral shade that compliments any look, this especially looks good with a bright lip.

Speaking of bright lips I'm in love with the shade 'Ole Flamingo' in the Bourjois Velvet Matte Lipsticks. To see me wearing this click here. The shade is just a lovely bright pink shade that really perks up and brightens my complexion. Recently I've been a lot more daring with my lipstick choices so I'm finding this a perfect way to brighten up my look for both daytime and evening.

When I haven't been sporting Ole Flamingo I've worn an old favourite and as you can see a very well loved Bourjois Chubby stick in 'Plum Russian' to see me wearing this shade click here. Plums are an all year round affair for me they compliment my darker skin tone perfectly and have to be the most wearable shade in my lipstick collection. The Bourjois Chubby sticks are still one of my favourite drugstore chubby sticks the formula is spot on, moisturising without being at all messy.

TBS Honey & Beeswax Hand and Foot Butter has been reached for a lot through the month of July. For soft feet and hands this little tub of goodness is essential. Although this has a super thick rich texture I find it absorbs really quickly. My hands have been incredibly dry this month (no idea why) but this moisturiser applied and left overnight has really helped.

My favourite Essie polish of all time, if you follow me on Instagram (if not go follow) you'll be sick of hearing me harp on about this shade. For me 'Exotic Liras' is the perfect pink polish, sometimes I just apply this week after week. The shade flatters my skin tone, manages to look polished and classy whilst still having a bright pop of colour. The colour is very similar to Watermelon but I find this one ever so slightly darker.

That's me all out of love, but they were the products I've slathered on/or worn throughout the month of July. I'd love to know what your standout products were throughout the month of July.

My In-Flight Essentials

It's love. Now I know we're not here to talk about by bag (more it's contents) but I pretty much legitimately think I'm in love with it. I picked up this rucksack (from Debenhams) for hand luggage but I've pretty much used it every day since. My arms have been less achy and my back has hurt less so there's definitely a few pros's to carrying a rucksack. Such a simple design but I love it.

On holidays/travelling you'll pretty much find me glued to a book. I've packed 'Paper Towns' by John Green, I haven't heard much about this book but I'm looking forward to giving it a read (maybe I'll report back if it's any good!)

For the plane journey I've also packed this cute notebook. I can't remember where I bought it from (helpful) but it's super cute, it's filled with illustrations and if you look in the right hand corner there's a little bunny that changes as you flick through (I'm easily impressed.) I use this to jot down any idea's or thoughts mainly blog related. I plan to jot down a blog schedule for August.

Where there's a plane there's air con, and where's there's air con there's germs! The Carex Anti bac gel in Strawberry laces will be on hand. It smells yum and gets the job done. I also pack some wipes, for some reason I always seem to end up spilling drinks or dropping food everywhere (can't take me anywhere) so sometimes a gel won't cut it hence the wipes. I've also packed a teeny tiny hand cream by Superdrug, it'll keep my hands dry without leaving them greasy.

You may have noticed there's no skincare or beauty. That's because quite frankly I can't be bothered! Even on long haul flights I'll never be the type of girl to go in with three different masks and facial mists as I just find it's a little unnecessary and from previous experience it generally isn't that effective. You add all this moisture for it to be sucked back out by air con. I do however usually buy a can of deodorant or Impulse at the airport to have a quick spray on landing. Other than that it's pretty much a beauty free zone (sorry guys!)

The exciting part. Food. I usually pack a jumbo size of crisps (the bigger the better) it's junk it's unhealthy but it keeps me full (plus crepes and boozy nights await there really is no point now.) I also pack a bag of sweets usually Haribo and some gum. Oh and a big bottle of water (self explanatory.)

What are your in-flight essentials?

It's Love -June

Here's a shocker although I have the 'Beauty Blogger' title I don't actually purchase that many products monthly. This can often mean that my favourite products remain the same through months (hence why I haven't really included monthly favourites on my blog before.) Once I find something I love I tend to stick with it, which often means I only have one/two products per category in my makeup and skincare collection. I decided to introduce an 'It's Love' series (basically monthly favourites) but with a more 'flexible' name. Here's my loves from June-

The Soap and Glory Breakfast Scrub will always be a firm favourite of mine when it comes to body scrubs. The breakfast scrub is still one of my favourites for scent, it smells amazing and does an incredible job of buffing away dry skin. Unlike some S&G body scrubs that end up straight down the drain (I'm looking at you Sugar Crush scrub) this one actually sticks to the skin allowing you to really get your scrub on. I feel like the texture is slighter more abrasive than other S&G scrubs too.

This HURRAW Vanilla Bean lip balm has to be my most reached for balm, I'm in love with this stuff. This 'all natural' organic, vegan friendly balm is super moisturising on my lips. What I like about this is that it stays for the longest time, instead of disappearing like other lip balms I have tried. My lips  have been in a much better state since introducing this into my morning makeup routine. This also creates a lovely layer before matte lipsticks. Sorry, but I just have to mention the smell, it's just amazing like vanilla and cocoa. Thanks to lovely Rachel (AllNaturalAspirations) for recommending this product - it's a keeper!

Well, I tell you what this Clinique lipstick has been well and truly loved throughout the month of June. There's nothing else I've reached for. The shade is called 'All Heart' and it has to be one of the most wearable shades I own. Having naturally pink/red lips most nudes look odd on me, but this provides me with a perfect everyday neutral shade, it matches my natural lip colour perfectly (see instagram picture here) The formula is super moisturising on the lips too.

The Bare Mineral Ready Touch foundation is the only base product I've reached for through the hot sticky month of June. This easy fuss free base has survived pretty well through heat/humidity. This just creates a natural, even looking base. It's so lightweight on the skin, and it's just quick, easy and fuss free. I can tell how much use this has received throughout the month as my RT Buffing brush is sitting spotlessly clean, my powder brush on the other hand not so much.

If you read my little book post over here you'll know I'm a fan of the crime genre. I finished this book in a week. What a cliffhanger, a brilliant 'who done it' style book that has you clinging on to every word. If gritty, blood, violence, gang crime isn't your cup of tea you won't like this book as it can be pretty explicit and hard to read at times. Throughout the book you constantly play the guessing game and when you're super sure who the killer is, something happens and a new potential suspect appears. There's just twists and turns throughout. I must say though I've read a few Neil White books and they seem to be pretty hit and miss.

At the gym I make a conscious effort to stay hydrated. I aim to drink at least a litre throughout most workouts yet I still face that dreaded post workout headache. After reading a few fitness style articles a supplement drink was suggested. 'Everything But The Cow' is a fat free, dairy free, gluten free, no artificial anything post workout drink. The aim is to create a a drink that's as creamy as a milkshake but still remains as fruity as a smoothie. I must say the blend works well. I love the Mango and Orange one, and the Banana & Kiwi are equally yummy.  Super tasty and my headaches post workout have eased. If you're after a healthy drink that's a great source of carbohydrates and protein for post workout this yummy drink may be for you.

So there we have a little mix of the products, reads and drink I've loved throughout the month of June. I'd love to know what products have been a standout for you this month? Any book recommendations I need a good lighthearted holiday book.

Debated Decisions #2 Life Of A Secret Blogger

Everyone starts their journey into blogging with different intentions, for some it's a little corner of the Internet where they can share their interests, for others blogging is a career choice. For me blogging is my creative outlet something I can work/build on, I wanted a little corner of the Internet a space to share my thoughts, write up content and get snap happy. At the time I didn't consider telling friends, family or colleagues, but does anyone when setting up a blog? In all honesty it never crossed my mind so, as the months rolled on my life as a secret blogger began...

Snapping product/selfie pictures daily, having a skin care stash that's over flooded the bathroom, and becoming completely unsociable every Wednesday and Sunday evening it was only a matter of time before someone caught on. So when my Mum asked about my increased time behind my laptop (yes my parents are nosey like that) I decided to show her my blog. I felt embarrassed about sharing my blog with friends, family and colleagues. But one day I asked myself the question, why? Why am I blogging in secret? Am I afraid how people will react? Possibly the latter, to someone who's not into beauty could my blog be portrayed as vain? Self centred? Shallow?

My Mum was actually…impressed and even questioned if I'd written the posts myself (yes mum it's all me!) Not the reaction I expected in the slightest my mum was super supportive. As the months passed and my twitter obsession grew it was only sooner or later before friends and colleagues found out about my blog. It still came as a surprise though when I was munching on my sandwich in the staff kitchen to hear 'Hey I heard you blog…' I felt mortified, embarrassed, and just wanted the floor to swallow me up. But after a short tumbleweed moment I replied, played it cool and said 'Why yes, I do have a blog.' And it suddenly dawned on me why should I feel embarrassed/ashamed, my blog is something I should be proud of it's my little space on the world wide web where I can write content, that hopefully someone somewhere might enjoy or even find helpful or useful in some way. I put a lot of time into my blog weekly, on pictures, writing so why shouldn't I share it with friends or colleagues?

So now my whole office knows, my life of a secret blogger has come to an end. And you know what I'm happy. No one laughed, no one called me vain and I've even gained a few new readers in the process. I do however feel like people see me differently, it's quite easy to get roped into the world of beauty blogging but I'm just a normal average girl. People make the assumption that as I write about beauty/skincare I'm some sort of expert in that field. I've been asked about reoccurring rashes, the perfect concealers, anti ageing skincare, I did find myself reminding people that I really am no expert I just write about things I like/discover.

In all honesty telling friends and family about my blog was one of the best things I've done (in terms of blogging) it's made me a little more confident and I feel like I have lots of support from friends and family. I'm able to share my blog more openly with people now as my invites slowly increase for events in my local area I'm glad that I now feel confident enough to direct people to my blog, and promote my blog a little more. We all spend so much time writing content, snapping pictures and getting the editing just right so why are we so afraid to share?

If you're a blogger have you told friends and family? If not, why?

Try Test Tell #1

I like to think of myself as a bit of a human guinea pig in everyday life, I like to tweak, review, and keep track of my diet, fitness and general lifestyle. Call me naive but if I read 'Three green tea's a day improve skin after four weeks' I'm most likely to try and see it through just to see if there is any noticeable difference.

Constantly trying thing's inspired the 'Try Test Tell' series on my blog. The aim of this series is to try some of the talked about diet, fitness and lifestyle changes and report back on the results. Now as always a little disclaimer I'm not a nutritionist but I do believe that no one quite knows your body like YOU do. I know how I feel after certain foods, I know what makes me feel happy and healthy. The tips and tricks in this series won't be me promising a similar result to everyone as let's face it everyone is different but who knows these posts may prove helpful, useful or even inspire someone somewhere… *tumbleweed*

If you’re struggling with bloating and nothing seems to be doing the trick, gluten may be the problem. After getting asked 'when is it due' I decided enough was enough, I need to stop the tuck in and go approach and really tackle the root of my bloaty belly. So after reading a random article somewhere my ban on bread and pizza (boohoo) began. Through the month of March I was breadless, and craving  pizza. Prior to my 'gluten free' challenge I ate a lot of bread. Most mornings consisted of two slices of toast, followed by a sandwich come lunchtime and to top it all off some days I'd even have a slice of toast on my return from work to bide me over until dinner time.

Although as far as I'm aware I don't suffer from celiac disease, it's been proven that you don't need to suffer from celiac disease to be affected by gluten. Some people may even have a sensitivity or intolerance without realising it. Wheat (because of the gluten that comes with it) is one of the most highly allergenic foods, it’s also been linked to bloating and IBS. Other side effects from gluten include fatigue, foggy mind, and headaches.
After eating bread/pizza or anything with gluten in I felt bloated and sluggish so for me it was a no brainer to cut gluten out of my diet. So what did I notice? Well no more sluggish feeling after breakfast or lunch. Bloatiness was kept to a minimum. Dare I say it I even found I had more energy throughout the afternoon at work, feeling less sluggish and tired really boosted my mood and I just found I had more energy to get me through the day. Eating porridge and slow releasing foods at breakfast time meant I made it until lunch without my usually hungry feeling. In the short space of time I gave up bread I noticed a huge difference in my stomach physically my waistline had reduced… fair enough I wasn't rocking mega abs, but my stomach appeared a little slimmer. I wish I'd taken before and after pictures but in all honesty I didn't think there would be any change or difference in size.

So guys if you suffer from a bloaty belly, tiredness and lack of energy and feel like you've tried just about everything why not look at reducing the levels of gluten in your diet.

Have you tried cutting out certain foods from your diet? Do you avoid gluten?

Topic 9: Music-My Running Playlist

I love that you can have the most stressful day at work, or be sat on a bus full of screaming children and all you have to do is put your earphones in and you have your escape from the world. Music for me is everything, it's relaxing, soothing, motivating and inspiring. My friend's call me the 'Playlist queen' as I have a crazy amount of playlists on my phone/Ipod, today though I thought I'd focus on the playlist I use for running/exercise. If you follow me on Twitter you'll know how much I love my running and having the right playlist is a must, especially if you're a lone runner like myself.

My music taste is a little weird I like anything from Lorde to Jay'z I really do have the most bizarre taste in music, for running though I like to keep thing's loud, trashy and annoying. Upbeat, repetitive, cheesy lyrics and an awesome beat are what I need to keep me running. My running music is something I would never listen to if I wasn't running as quite frankly it's just noise not the sort of music to relax me after a long day at work. Sadly that slow melodic indie song I love just won't get me moving that butt and pounding the pavements like the following songs do. Here's a snippet of the songs on my playlist-

Tidal Wave- Sub Focus Ft Alpines

Warm up track, perfect for when I'm in that walking, not quite running (but I'm already wanting to go back home) mood. Perfect dance track, and puts me right in the mood for my run.

Step It Up- Richie Sosa

Yup, that song from the Lexus advert. The beat on this gets me motivated. This is the song where the speed picks up. That's right sorry knees/legs it's time to get moving!

Don't You Worry Child

You'll have heard this one on the radio. It just reminds me of summer and although again not my usual style it does make me smile through the pain. Smile and run…smile and run.

Wake me Up-Avicii

Another one you'll have heard on the radio I like to do interval training with this song, slow jog through the slow melodic verses, when the beat kicks in pick up speed. By this point I'm loosing motivation but this song helps me keep the motivation..

Boomerang ft Pitbull

Boooomerangeeee, put your hands up. Sorry if this song doesn't get you moving that little bit faster I seriously don't know what will. Plus sexy beautiful lady are in the lyrics, I like to think that's me once the runs over…reality is I'm more beetroot than Boomerang!

Rihanna-We found love

Because quite frankly I'll never get sick of this song, it still gets me dancing.

Real-Years and Years

After hearing Katie Snooks/Andrew's version on this look book here. It reminded me how much I love this song. Unlike the other song's this is something that made it to my 'bus music' playlist.

For cool down, I opt for Beyonce or Alicia Keys for some feel good slow music.

What's on your exercise playlist? What sort of music do you like? Any songs I should add to my running playlist?

Blogger Love Tag

Oh I feel like such a 'real' blogger, I haven't done a tag post since my Libester awardI was rather chuffed when Laalaa from Dolce Vanity tagged me to do the Blogger Love Tag (check out her blog it's a favourite of mine!)  I'm a bit of a loser in the blogosphere and rarely get tagged *plays violin* which makes this post even more exciting for me.

1. What was the first blog you ever came across?

Hard question. Weirdly enough I actually discovered Youtube before blogs, Allthatglitters21 was one the very first people I ever watched on Youtube. Through Youtube I discovered blogs, the first ones I came across were most likely VDM, Lilly Pebbles, Zoella or Tanya Burr.

2. Favourite blog reads.

 3. Best blogging friend.

I don't really have any blogging friends, I'm a loser like that!

4. Name a blog that enables your purchases.

Oh dear so many, so so many. I swear I'd be a millionaire if it wasn't for blogs. To name one Belles Boutique I don't know what it is, Laura comes across so genuine, sweet and down to earth in all of her reviews it's the sort of blog I visit and end up writing a wish list as long as my arm.

5. Five blogs everyone should be reading.

6. Your favourite way to read blogs.

A big cup of tea, a huge slice of cake and preferably jim jams. Bloglovin is my best friend I follow so many blogs, I love having a full feed so I can browse through on my phone in my lunch break at work. I also use the 'Reading list' tool in safai where all of my absolute top blogs are saved. I browse these daily…it takes a lot from a blog to make it to my reading list.

7. Bloggers that inspire you.

So hard there's so many that inspire me. I love how much time and hard work most bloggers put in- bloggers seem to be a dedicated bunch.

8. Favourite blog design/look.

Simple, clear, crisp and clean. That being said I do sometimes find a blog with literally just black and white a tad uncreative. I quite like a black/white theme with colour thrown in here and there whether that be through blog buttons, text colour, or images there has to be some colour.

9. What is your favourite thing about blogging?

Planning content, trying new products and photography. I also really love the blogging community as a whole your all so lovely, since blogging I've literally received zero nastiness, it sounds silly but in the short time I've been blogging I've felt really welcomed. I enjoy all the twitter chats, and I love hearing all your recommendations.

10. Name a blogger you would most like to see write a book in the future!

A book, ooh this is hard perhaps Amy from Salted Roses her book could be called 'Fashion for dummies' I literally need/want all of her clothes.

I tag everyone, anyone who reads or fancy's a go at this tag or simply feels like sharing some blog love your all tagged.

Changing Your Blog Name

You may have noticed my blog has had a name change, previously known as ‘Subject Beauty’  now ‘Rinica Writes. So why the name change? 'Subject Beauty' was well umm restrictive and although I’m not 100% happy with my new name it will allow a little more flexibility on the topics I can post. Posting about food or lifestyle isn’t something an audience would necessarily expect from a blog named ‘Subject Beauty.’ Over the next few months I'm hoping to mix up my blog a little and post some lifestyle, fashion, food, D.I.Y and fitness style posts. Needless to say my main hobby and love will always be beauty bumf so for all of those people who enjoy my reviews I can confirm they will remain a permanent feature here on my blog.

Enough ramble. Today I thought I would write up a few tips all of this will probably already be known in the blogging community but for a newbie I was pretty much on my own and a post such as this one would have been a huge help.

1. Choose your name

I’m still not 100% happy with my blog name, and in all honesty I really can’t give any tips or tricks for choosing a name. Throughout brain storming I came up with some fabulous quirky names but sadly they were all taken. The harsh reality is 9 times out of 10 the name you think of will mostly likely be taken. I will however mention the following site http://namechk.comThis site allows you to check a blog name (URL) for it's availability on blogger/wordpress as well as all the social media platforms. Consistency is key, so try to aim for the same name across all of your social media platforms, previously I had to have twitter @Subjectbeauty1 and @Subjectbeauts on instagram so if you can't get your exact blog name see if something similar is available.

2. I've chosen my name, what now?

Wahey the hard bits out of the way.
Now you'll need to change your blog URL(in blogger) in the left sidebar click settings-basic-blog address and change your current URL too your new name. Simples. Don’t forget to also change your blog title as this appears on the top of the window on a laptop or tablet (when people access your blog.)
3. Make changes

After changing your URL. You need to change your header, followed by your pages and any places on your blog that reference your old name. There's actually a lot more references to your name than you think (as I discovered) so have a good old check. Changing your header is easy if you have a blank template (like I did) if you don't however contact the person who designed your header and they should hopefully be able to send a blank copy that you can edit in picmonkey. For those of you who have a header with a typed name it's even easier to change.

The next job is too tackle your social media platforms (the bit I was dreading, in all honesty it couldn't have been easier!)

Twitter- Luckily Twitter allows you to change your follow name whilst keeping all of your existing followers (whoo) it’s straight forward go to settings- profile name and change.

Instgram and Pinterest- Again Instagram/pinterest  allows you to change your follow name and keep existing followers

Bloglovin- Perhaps the platform I was the most worried about (as it's my main traffic source.) Access your bloglovin page and DO nothing that's right even though you've changed your blog URL don't attempt to edit/change any info yourself. Bare in mind that at this moment in the process all existing posts on bloglovin will be inaccessible to your followers (as they link to your old URL.) if you change your URL, blog name or anything  you WILL loose followers. Click ‘help’ and contact the bloglovin support team. In your email explain that you would like to change your blog URL name but keep your existing followers clearly display the old URL and the new URL it will replace. In your email also politely ask if they will ‘claim’ your blog in the process (saves a whole lot of fiddling around!) I was fortunate enough to receive an email from bloglovin within a couple of hours (wahey!)

4. Don't forget to change your social media buttons

Edit your social media buttons so they all land in the right place. When you edit HTML you should see a link to your old social media platforms delete and replace with your new link (it’s really that simple!) If your anal like me you may also wish to create a new email address to coincide with your new blog name. Although my blog is PR free, I like to have a separate email for any enquiries, guest posts or challenge’s I’m taking part in.

5. Write a post

Everything’s updated and you’re relatively happy about your new name, creating a post will let existing followers know  that your still you. I genuinely didn’t think anyone would notice when I swapped my blog name, but within the first hour I already had queries and a few confused tweets.

So there's my 5 tips everyone probably knows all this, but when I took to twitter it was a very mixed bag of responses about losing followers, so hopefully this post may prove useful to any bloggers who are thinking about a name change.

Are you happy with your blog name? Do you prefer blogs with one main topic or varied posts?

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mothers Day is just around the corner (30th March to be exact) so what do you buy the mother that has everything. I'm not really one for 'money making' holidays but I always have time for Mother's day. If your mums anything like mine, she doesn't relax or have 'me' time, she constantly puts everyone before herself and knows how to keep everybody happy, for this alone she truly does deserve a whole day dedicated to some relaxing, pampering and TLC. So today's post will include a few 'gift ideas' that may help or inspire...

Flowers- okay I know what your thinking not innovative Rinica but stay with me. There's nothing like receiving a bouquet of flowers to really brighten up your day. Previous years I always used to use a local florist, they deliver there reliable but by gosh are they super expensive! In recent years I've discovered Next, there affordable prices (prices range from £15-£20 includes delivery) and varied selection they've slowly become my obvious choice when Mothers day rocks around, or when someones poorly. So there really is no excuse ladies and gents, affordable flowers.

Perfume- Okay, another obvious choice but perfume is always a fail safe option. If all of your other plans fail you can always rely on a bottle of her favourite perfume, practicable, predictable but every girl needs perfume.

Photo album- I once gathered lots of old and new photos, and placed them all in a photo album for my mum to open up on mothers day, if you have your pictures on a SD card or film and you live in the UK Boots offers a really great affordable printing service. This gift not only adds a personal touch, but also provided hours of entertainment looking through lots of old funny photos. If your a dab hand at D.I.Y you could also make your own scrapbook. To this day my mum says this is one of the best gifts she received. So if your mums super smushy a la mine this may be an idea

Books- If your mums a bookworm (like mine) you could buy her the next book in that trilogy she's reading…

Skincare/Pamper products Why not buy her some pamper product, whilst she's reading her new book she can use the bath goodies to have a full on pamper session. My mum doesn't get much 'me' time, so I make sure to always stock up her stash on mothers day. Elemis, Body Shop, Soap & Glory and Sanctuary do some lovely pamper kits that she's sure to love

Weekend away/Lunch/Dinner- If your feeling flush, why not book a weekend away or spa day for you and your mum (Groupon do some great deals.) If your not feeling flush, why not take her for some lunch, me and my mum will often just go to Pizza Express, it doesn't have to be the most expensive place in the world mums will appreciate being able to spend quality time. If you want to go all out, why not get your cook on (perhaps the most stressful out of the 3 options.)

What will you be buying for your mum this Mothers day?

Stay Social + Competition Reminder

From the title of this blog post you guys can probably tell its going to be 'self plug' central but to be fair on myself, I haven't done this style post in the past so we shall allow it...just this once.

I just want to say a huge thank you to all of my new followers, I recently hit 500 on bloglovin overwhelmed chuffed and extremely surprised! I originally started this blog as a bit of an outlet for me to review products I'm enjoying, as quite frankly friends and family were sick of hearing. I love reading other blogs discovering new ideas, tips and tricks and reviews on products I'm wanting to try. I quite honestly thought I'd never pass the 5 followers mark, so the fact that there's now 500 of you is truly incredible and means a lot to me. So a huge thank you too new/existing followers.

If you haven't already don't forget to stay up to date with my blog on bloglovin (link here) I follow lots of blogs, I just find bloglovin is easiest way to stay up to date and is great for reading on the go (install the free bloglovin app.)

I'm also tweeting @subjectbeauty1 (link here) so if you'd like to see even more rambles give me a follow on there too. Twitter often provides a sneaky peek into what shall be coming up on my blog, as well as regular tweets about latest posts and all things bloggy. So if you like me, or hate bloglovin it's also a great way to stay in touch and up to date with my posts

I'm an Instagram newbie (@subjectbeauts) my Instagram is filled with cake, animal snaps and randomness unfortunately I don't lead the most glamorous life but it still may be worth a follow simply for a laugh at my failed attempts at baking...

I love hearing your product recommendations, tips and tricks so don't forget to stay social.

Bloggers Secret Valentine

With valentines day done and dusted for another year (I'm secretly rather glad) I thought I would share my goodies I received from Jess who runs the cutely named blog 'Dungaree's and Donuts.'  I've followed Jess on bloglovin since last December if you haven't checked out her blog…do. Lifestyle, beauty and fashion posts there really is something for everyone. After taking part in the 'Blogger's secret santa' last December I couldn't wait to be involved in something similar, the bloggers secret valentine was kindly organised by the lovely Vicky and Laura, we all had a budget of £15.

Thank you Jess, I really do love everything I got. Jess went for a pink theme (very vday appropriate.) I received a Revlon nail file, which is great for my handbag as I'm forever biting chipping my nails -Oh and did I mention it's pink and glittery-sold.

I also received the Collection Volume mascara, I've previously mentioned on my blog my love for a big brush, and boy does this have a big brush. You can really build with this it coats all of your lashes and lengthens I'm really enjoying using this at the moment.

I love Barry M nail polishes so much, I own nearly every shade except this one, the shade is 'Pink Flamingo' perfect pastel for spring I do love bright shades and this really compliments my skin tone.

Yogurt smoothie mask this sounds delicious, I can't wait to try this. I'm currently on a serum/mask free skin routine but as soon as March rolls around I can't wait to try this.

In all honest I got scared when I saw this lipstick it's a shade I'd usually be very daunted by. I can't thank Jess enough I absolutely love this, and it flatters my skin tone so much. This really brightens up my complexion and will look perfect for spring too. I love the formula very creamy, moisturising and pigmented I definitely want to try more from Barry M.

Thank you for my gifts Jess, I love everything. What did everyone get for valentines day? Have you tried any of the products I received?

P.S Don't forget to enter my 300 followers giveaway lots of goodies up for grabs!

300 Followers Giveaway!

At beginning of the year ‘Subject Beauty’ hit 300 followers on bloglovin! Which was totally unexpected, overwhelming but very appreciated I’m so grateful for anyone that reads my posts, takes the time to comment or even goes that extra mile to follow me on bloglovin. Without sounding too smushy it really does make my day. I always take the time to reply to readers, and I check out your blog links too, I must say I truly have some of the most amazing beautiful followers (with great blogs too!)

To celebrate hitting 300 followers (I'm so close to 400 now too) I decided to do a little giveaway. I was a bit worried about doing this giveaway as I wasn't sure if anyone would like/want to try the products I have picked hopefully these prizes are a little appealing-

NARS Creamy Concealer (winner will need to let me know shade) – This is sleep in a tube. Amazing for covering dark circles, and imperfections –by far one of the best concealers that I own!

Origins Drink Up Overnight Mask – This works on so many different skin types, just the hydration and nourishment your skin needs after this cold wintery weather.

Soap & Glory Pulp Friction – I’ve raved about this far too much on my blog! This scrub has overtaken my S&G favourites (Breakfast scrub and sugar crush) simply for the added ease of use – no clumpy bits down the drain!

Clinique High Impact Mascara - My favourite mascara of all time, me and my bank balance don’t even want to think about how many times I’ve repurchased this mascara.

(If the winner happens to be a blogger, you will also win 1 month free advertising on the side bar of 'Subject Beauty')
