Tanya Burr Lips and Nails

January saw the launch of Tanya Burr's lips and nails collection. There's quite a few reviews knocking about in the blogosphere but I thought I'd add a contribution and give a nod to the collection.

Tanya Burr...where to start, she seems such a genuine, enthusiastic, down to earth girl who truly appreciates her followers. It's clear to see how hard Tanya's worked to gain her army of followers, I don't do Youtube but I can appreciate the time and effort that probably goes into creating and editing content so it's nice to see hard work rewarded. When I first heard about the Tanya Burr nails and lip collection I was a little dubious, in all honesty I thought the products were going to be a teeny tiny bit gimmicky and tacky (as I find most celeb collections are) however I was 100% wrong *waves white flag*

The product packaging is sleek and expensive looking very NARS esque, fortunately though your purse need not weep all of the products are super affordable and accessible. The Tanya Burr line is stocked on Feel Unique and Superdrug. My biggest praise for the line is how universal all the shades are, they'll suit and flatter all skin tones which is really nice to see. There really is something for everyone.

In the lip glosses you have your nudes, pinks, and reds. All of the lip glosses have cute, quirky names (I prefer this too numbered products) I went for 'Aurora' (not just for the name I promise) this pinky shade is like nothing in my collection and has slowly become an everyday staple for me. The lip glosses are super pigmented, super glossy but not at all sticky. The texture is super creamy, and I'm super impressed with longevity. Okay, so no lip gloss is going to stay a full day but I applied at 10.30 and come 12 I still had faint colour from the lip gloss left on my lips which for a lip gloss in my opinion is pretty impressive. Although this looks a pretty natural colour on myself, this may appear much pinker on paler skin tones. Oh, and how could I forget this smells amazing like strawberries and cream! Super yum.

Onto nails, I picked up the shade 'Bright and early' (next on the wishlist 'Little duck') I was impressed, two coats and the colour was totally opaque. The finish is glossy, and streak free. With a top coat this lasted around 5 days chip free pretty standard with most polishes. I think this colour would be perfect in summer, and really flatters my darker skin tone.

The lip glosses retail at £6.99 and the polishes are £5.99, super affordable. Will you be trying anything from the Tanya Burr line? If you have already which shades are your favourites?

WOMN #4

With Christmas approaching (tomorrow eep!) I figured it may not be appropriate to do this post (as it does contain glitter.) But I like to sport glitter nails through January too (ooh rebel) so here we go, my current go to nails. When it comes to nails, I don’t really follow trends I have been known to sport the odd pastel shade in winter, a Christmas red in summer and glittery tips in spring-but why not! Why should a season define what polish we wear?  Anyway enough rant onto the polish in question…

As mentioned previously on my blog I love Barry M polishes, I have owned this polish for almost a year and a half and it hasn’t gone clumpy or dried up if that’s not a quality polish I’m not sure what is! The shade shown here is ‘Mushroom’. Having a darker complexion nude shades don’t tend to suit me, but I think ‘Mushroom’ manages to look really nice against my skin tone. I have paired this with a ‘accent’ nail as one may call it, a new shade from the Maybelline colour show collection ‘Knitted gold’ this is a lovely rose gold shade. I really like the effect this has when applied, filled with tiny chunks of glitter layered over Mushroom this makes a really nice combination. I love the Maybelline colour show polishes as there great quality, don’t stain the nails and apply nicely. This glitter polish isn’t clumpy or hard to apply like others I have tried.

Have you tried any of the colour show polishes? Do you follow nail trends?

Barry M polishes, I know many a beauty blogger rave about Barry M but I have to say they really are worth the hype. This year we saw the release of Gelly hi shine range, high shine gel affect nails minus the UV light I have to say I was super impressed with this release and the shade range available. Barry M polishes are high quality, long wearing and reasonably priced. I've owned the Barry M shade 'Mushroom' (in the normal range) for almost 2 years now (no exaggeration!) and this hasn't dried out or clumpified, compared to my pricer polishes that dry up within a few months, this is rather impressive.

The two shades swatched here are 'Blood Orange' and 'Watermelon', more recently I have been trying to be a little festive with the glitter (post in progress) but until then these were the two shades I have been sporting. Festive, why yes red and green? Behold the lazy girls option for festive nails.

Unlike it's name 'Blood orange' is very much a tomato red, there's nothing orange about this polish, but it does make a lovely Christmas red, and looks love paired with a gold glitter accent nail.

Watermelon, is a deep Christmas tree green. Beware ladies, this stains like nothing else! I was sporting witch green nails for almost a week not pretty, use a good quality base coat with this to avoid the green nail look

Do you like Barry M polishes, what are your favourite shades?

WOMN #2

Literally these have been on rotation pretty much through the month of September. I absolutely adore Barry M polishes there just great! I've owned the nail polish above for well over a year no gloopyness and the brush is still in working order (longer lasting then some of the other more pricier nail polishes I own) I'm on the hunt for there Autumn collection but my Boots doesn't have any stock yet :(

The second polish which can be described as a grey/purple...browny colour is Models Own 'Purple Party Pro' I love this polish. It's a very unique shade in my collection (which is kind of small believe it or not!) I'm yet to find a cheaper dupe for this shade as I haven't come across anything similar.

What Autumn ranges are you looking forward to? Essie will be my next point of call...a certain navy colour has been added to my wish list.

WOMN-What's On My Nails

Rimmel 'I love lasting finish' in Double Decker Red & Ballet Pump Perfection
Creative post name Rinica (NOT) haha moving on...

Every once in awhile I put down my beloved Essie polishes and try different brands offerings. Below are some of my favourite brands for nail polishes-

Essie- I just love the brushes, formula, and finish. Essie is the only nail polish I use that doesn't smudge and has a long staying power. I also never need to use a top coat with this brand.

Models Own- Brush is a bit naff, and these can run a little on the streaky side but the shade range certainly makes up for it

Barry M

Rimmel

Anyway, Boots recently had an offer on Rimmel polishes they were like £1.99 (cheap as chips or what!)

Photographed these look pretty similar but one is more of a pinky shade (think Essie Watermelon) and one is a Red shade. As autumn/fall approaches my yearly hunt for a good red nail polish begins does anyone have any suggestions? I love this one but I'm still after something slightly darker...a true red shade.
